Sharp on marketplaces, but hard to pin down

Marcus clearly knows marketplace dynamics cold and the first meeting was excellent. Scheduling follow-ups took weeks and messages went unanswered for long stretches.

Pros

Strong domain expertise, good first meeting

Cons

Poor follow-through on scheduling and replies

Dragged out diligence, then ghosted

Six weeks of data requests and three partner meetings, then silence. Had to hear the pass from an associate. Not the worst terms discussed, but the process cost us momentum with other funds.

Pros

Thoughtful questions early

Cons

Slow, went dark, no clear decision owner

Great brand, but heavy board process

Priya's firm is a strong name to have on the cap table and she opened enterprise doors. Governance is real work though — monthly board prep is intense and pro-rata pressure was high.

Pros

Brand halo, enterprise intros, disciplined operator

Cons

Board-heavy, lots of reporting, pushed hard on pro-rata

Strong platform team, uneven partner attention

As a firm, Aperture's platform (recruiting, PR, customer intros) is genuinely excellent. Partner attention depends heavily on who you get and how hot your metrics are.

Pros

Best-in-class platform team, real customer intros

Cons

Attention drops off if you're not a breakout
