VCReview

Trust & verification

A review is only useful if it's real. Here's how we keep VCReview honest — and fair to the investors being reviewed.

How we verify reviewers

Every review is tied to a claimed relationship — you raised from them, pitched them, went through diligence, or worked alongside them. We confirm that relationship before a review is marked Verified, using the least-intrusive method that works:

  • Work email

Confirm a company domain that matches the deal, via a one-time email link.

  • Term sheet or SAFE

Upload the document that names the firm. We check the parties, then delete the file — we never publish it.

  • Cap table / investment record

A screenshot or export showing the investor on your cap table.

  • LinkedIn / professional profile

For co-investors and operators, we confirm the working relationship.

Evidence is reviewed privately by our moderation team and is never shown on your public review. Reviewers stay anonymous by default — we publish the verified relationship, not your name.

Review guidelines

Reviews are opinions. To keep them fair and lawful:

  • Write about your own first-hand experience, not secondhand rumor.
  • Focus on professional conduct: process, terms, communication, value-add.
  • No personal attacks, no private personal details, no protected-class remarks.
  • Factual claims should be things you experienced and could substantiate.
  • No conflicts of interest — don't review your own firm or a competitor to harm them.

Disputes & takedowns

Investors can flag a review they believe is fake, defamatory, or violates our guidelines. Flagged reviews go to human moderation. If a review can't be tied to a verified relationship, or breaks the guidelines, it comes down. Reviewers are notified and can respond. We aim to resolve disputes within five business days.

This opinion-plus-verification-plus-dispute model is what keeps a Glassdoor-style site legally defensible — reviews are clearly framed as the author's honest opinion of their own experience.

Where firm & investor data comes from

Firm and investor profiles (names, locations, stages, sectors) are factual directory data sourced from a licensed third-party provider — not scraped. Reviews and ratings are contributed entirely by verified VCReview users. We never import outside ratings or commentary as if they were VCReview reviews.
